§ 70-4. Objects and purposes.

  • Sec. 4. The objects and purposes of this act are to provide on a zone of benefit basis for the control of the flood and storm waters of the district and the flood and storm waters of streams that have their sources outside the district, but which streams and flood waters flow into the district, and to conserve such waters for beneficial and useful purposes by spreading, storing, retaining, and causing such waters to percolate into the soil within or without the district or to save and conserve in any manner all or any of such waters and to protect from such flood and storm waters the public highways, life and property in the district, and the watercourses and watersheds of streams flowing into the district, and to prevent the waste or diminution of the water supply in the district, and to obtain, retain and reclaim, drainage, storm, flood or other surface waters including waters from within or without the watershed in which the district is located for beneficial use within the district.
